Taking an office building as an example, studies the influence of amount and layout of thermal mass on the night ventilation effect by experimental testing. Evaluates the effect of night ventilation in terms of indoor temperature fluctuation and cool storage capacity. The results show that when the temperature difference between day and night is up to 6 ℃ or above in Xi’an area in summer, night ventilation for office buildings would have cooling effect. The cool storage capacity can increase by 40% to 66% with scattered arrangement of the thermal mass compared to that of centralized arrangement. The smaller the amount of thermal mass is, the more obvious the superiority of scattered arrangement is.
